Speech, Language, and Communication Therapy
Language and Communication Therapy Sessions
Targets and sessions will be tailored to meet your child/young person’s areas of need. Activities and resources will be provided for further support at home. This includes planning, resources making, resources for parents, and note writing.
Duration: 50 minute sessions
Speech Sounds Therapy Sessions
These fun sessions target how your child produces speech sounds and focus on articulation.
Duration: 30 minute sessions
Initial Assessment
This comprehensive evaluation includes:
- Discussions with you and your child/young person (if appropriate).
- Collecting case history and other relevant information.
- Informal and formal assessments (when applicable) using observations and standardised tests.
- Verbal feedback.
- Detailed report with recommendations.
Duration: Up to 2 hours
Dyslexia Service
Initial Virtual Meeting
This includes: a discussion with the child/young person and carers to collect case history and other relevant information.
*After getting a the carers consent, a document with further information to complete will be sent to school and other professionals (if applicable).
Duration: 1 hour
Assessment:
This investigates whether your child or the young person meet the UK criteria for dyslexia (set by the Assessments Standards Committee SASC). The comprehensive assessment includes: literacy (reading, spelling, and writing), cognitive abilities (verbal and nonverbal), working memory, processing speed, and phonological awareness. It also assesses the areas of strengths and needs to further support recommendations.
It includes a written report with recommendations for home and school.
Duration: Up to 4 hours
Assistive Technology and Augmentative and Alternative (AAC) Support
Step 1 – Initial Virtual AAC Clinic
This includes: discussions to collect case history, information about your child’s current communication and their use of AAC devices, and other relevant information with you and/or other professionals involved.
Duration: 1 hour
Step 2 – Training to Parents/Carers
This includes detailed training of how to use the equipment and communication apps for the child/young person and parents/carers.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Step 3 – Training to School Staff or any other Professionals Working with the Child/Young Person
This includes detailed training of how to use the equipment and communication apps for school staff and/or other professionals working with the child/young person.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Step 4 – Virtual AAC Care Plan Design
This includes discussions with you and your child (if appropriate) and other professionals involved to complete a tool to design intervention plan for the child.
Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes
Step 5- AAC Review Sessions
This includes a review of the child/young person using the AAC device, discussion with the parents and/or other professionals, and brief training.
Duration: 1 hour
Review Appointments
This review assessment to be conducted annually or when/as requested. Includes: planning, resources for the session, resource for the parents/carers and note writing.
Duration: 45-60 minutes
Assessments for an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP)
It includes assessment, verbal feedback, written report, recommendations, and a therapy program.
Duration: up to 2 hours
Education Setting Visits, Observations and Meetings
Visits are very useful in understanding the child’s communication and access to the curriculum, and supports assessments findings and planing therapy programs.
